Mary Beth Mandanas is the Chief Executive Officer of Onyx Renewable Partners, a national provider of clean energy and decarbonization solutions to commercial and industrial businesses. Previously, she served as Chief Investment Officer for Sol Systems and prior to that, as Chief Strategy Officer for CleanChoice Energy. With over twenty years in corporate and investment banking principally with Credit Suisse First Boston and Citigroup before transitioning to 100% renewable energy companies, she worked with power and utility clients raising capital and providing financial and strategic advisory services. She currently serves as Independent Director and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee for Energy Vault, and previously served as an Independent Director and Audit Chair for Tortoiseecofin Acquisition Corp. III. She received an M.B.A. in Finance from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from University of South Carolina.

As Chief Financial Officer, my role is to oversee the company’s financial operations and lead Onyx’s Capital Markets activities.
Most recently I served as Onyx’s Senior Vice President of Finance and Head of Capital Markets. Prior to Onyx, I worked at Cubico Sustainable Investments in the Origination & Execution (M&A) function. Before Cubico, I had a 23+ year career at GE Capital, the bulk of which was as a part of the Energy Financial Services business, with leadership roles across both debt and equity in the principal investment and portfolio management teams, both domestic and outside the US.
My experience includes renewable and thermal energy generation, transmission and natural resources.

I have been in the renewables and energy sector for over 20 years. I was most recently Chief Financial Officer at HomeWorks Energy, a Boston-based energy efficiency company, where I ran the finance and legal functions. I also served as Vice President, Finance for Noble Environmental Power, a private equity-backed wind energy owner/operator, and as Managing Director for American Electric Power. Earlier in my career I was a corporate attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Previously, I managed portfolios of commercial and utility-scale solar facilities for TerraForm Power and SunEdison. Prior to my asset management experience, I was a Project Developer for a world leader in wind energy, Iberdrola Renewables (currently Avangrid Renewables), where I spearheaded utility-scale wind energy development projects.

Through both greenfield and M&A efforts, this led to the successful energization of 90+ projects. Before my time at Aspen, I spent 4-years at Pine Gate Renewables where I held multiple positions focused on site identification, infrastructure analysis, land acquisition, permitting, interconnection and management of projects up to 100MW in size.

After a career in Napa Valley’s world-renowned wine industry, I pivoted to renewable energy with the goal of turning esoteric sustainability goals into actionable energy resiliency strategies. I have developed solar PV and PV+ microgrid projects for the world’s most luxurious brands, wineries, and fromage producers. Additionally, I have worked with California’s prestigious universities, K-12 schools, and local governments.
When not helping organizations go green and off-grid, I enjoy cycling, cooking, making wine with friends and volunteering for Napa Valley’s Transportation Authority.

Prior to my time at Onyx, I served as the Director of Pre-Construction at Aspen Power. I have worked on over 100MW of PV and storage projects, including C&I, small scale utility, and even microgrids on remote Pacific islands. I am a NABCEP certified PVIP, and I enjoy using my varied technical background to find creative ways to complete solar projects.

Providing 11% of Kauaʻi’s energy, the project won the 2019 Edison Award for advancing the electric industry from the Edison Electric Institute.
As Senior Director of Project Management, I lead and oversee national-scale operations, driving the strategic deployment of capital for renewable energy initiatives. With over a decade of experience in the renewable energy and construction sectors, I have successfully delivered and managed over 300 MW of solar projects, encompassing large-scale utility systems, commercial rooftops, carports, and advanced battery energy storage solutions.

I also have experience in hybrid diesel solar off grid solutions during my time working in the United Arab Emirates. I currently serve Onyx Renewables as Director of Project Management, Operations. My career began in 2006 in energy efficiency as an Energy Analyst with Chevron, utilizing a holistic approach to assist customers with their energy goals by decreasing their energy usage and utilizing renewables to offset remaining energy needs. After eight years, I fully transitioned into renewables beginning with the role of Operations Project Manager at Sun Edison, and moved to development as a Development Project Manager at REC Solar, followed by a five year tenure with ForeFront Power before joining the Onyx team.

After honorably serving as a US Navy Seabee, I have had vast operation support experience in the property management and packaging industry. Prior to Onyx, I worked in the residential solar sector for Sunrun.

Previously, I served as an Accountant at The Georgetown Company, a privately-held diversified real estate company, and had 7 years of accounting and auditing experience where I maintained and oversaw in excess of 25 million square feet of office, residential, retail and recreational properties and controlled assets with a value of over $3 billion.

I studied for three months in Mongolia in 2015 and hope to return some day to visit my homestay family.
My role spans pre-construction project planning, diligence, and execution. I work closely with the commercial and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Previously, I worked in renewable energy finance roles at Aiga Capital Partners, PLEXUS Solutions, and Standard Solar. I have engaged in greater than $500mm in debt, M&A, and tax equity transactions for solar, wind, and energy storage project developers and owner-operators. In these transaction-oriented roles, I have worked closely with development, legal, and technical teams on project, portfolio, and platform due diligence. I started my career as a financial statement auditor at KPMG.

I believe in having strong working relationships with my utility counterparts as well as internal team members to have the most productive work environment. I have assisted in helping PTO over 100MW of PV, Battery, and Fuel Cell projects over my development career and hope to turn on many more systems with Onyx. I previously worked at Entergy as the Senior Supply Chain Project Lead in Customer Innovation for Key String Labs pilots and products. I am an expert in supply chain processes, a vendor relationship manager who maintains key connections with companies that supply products and services for emerging technology such as public charging, efleet, emobility, power generation and green digital solutions. I was the Chair of the multicultural resource group which allowed me to share my different cultural background experience with various organizations across Entergy to create a more inclusive workplace. We are all a work in progress; and we shouldn’t be afraid to let our personal experiences make us better professionals.

Developing reliable, trustworthy datasets is the first and most important step to developing actionable analytics workflows that inform improvements to system performance.
My role is to conduct daily remote monitoring of all assets and identify any operational issues that may require corrective action. In addition to my monitoring duties, I am responsible for improving internal data systems and analytics capabilities.
Previously, I served as a Planning Technician at Sierra Business Council where I conducted greenhouse gas inventories and developed climate action plans for local governments and communities in the Sierra Nevada Region.

Prior to Onyx, I worked for Duke Energy and REC Solar where I focused on originating and qualifying greenfield solar and storage projects that were 1 megawatt and larger.

As Director of Project Management, I am responsible for the installation of solar projects across the US, from pre-construction through final completion. I oversee all aspects of construction including quality control, permitting, build schedules, safety, budgets, and best practices for installation.I immediately discovered my passion for the solar industry when I started my career 11 years ago as an installer at a residential solar firm in New Orleans, LA. From there, I continued to develop my career at American Solar Partners and PowerFlex before joining Onyx in the spring of 2022.

I have been in the renewables and energy sector for over 20 years. I was most recently Chief Financial Officer at HomeWorks Energy, a Boston-based energy efficiency company, where I ran the finance and legal functions. I also served as Vice President, Finance for Noble Environmental Power, a private equity-backed wind energy owner/operator, and as Managing Director for American Electric Power. Earlier in my career I was a corporate attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

As Chief Financial Officer, my role is to oversee the company’s financial operations and lead Onyx’s Capital Markets activities.
Most recently I served as Onyx’s Senior Vice President of Finance and Head of Capital Markets. Prior to Onyx, I worked at Cubico Sustainable Investments in the Origination & Execution (M&A) function. Before Cubico, I had a 23+ year career at GE Capital, the bulk of which was as a part of the Energy Financial Services business, with leadership roles across both debt and equity in the principal investment and portfolio management teams, both domestic and outside the US.

As a Senior Project Developer, I support the Origination, Engineering and Construction teams with project due diligence throughout the full project lifecycle.
Previously, I worked on the project development team at UGE International. I spent the majority of my time there developing portfolios of ground mounted community solar projects across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Prior to UGE, I worked in business development for Fuse Energy Group. At Fuse, I spent time enrolling MA small businesses in the MA community solar program and helped local businesses manage their energy spend through fixed electricity pricing.
