Job Description

Onyx is seeking a Vice President to join its Strategy and Finance group. The Vice President will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be primarily involved in the origination and execution of capital markets transactions, including debt and tax equity. Onyx seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intellectually curious, and have demonstrated high performance in their previous endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills, the successful candidate should have solid communication skills, a demonstrated ability to write effectively, and a desire to work in a team environment, often under pressure.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Negotiate financing documentation and collaborate with junior and senior team members, lenders and tax investors in capital markets transactions

  • Oversee and coordinate financial analyses, due diligence, and presentations to facilitate making important financing decisions

  • Provide analytical and execution support for debt and tax equity transactions, interfacing with the project and business development teams on structural and technical elements of projects

  • Adapt quickly with the continuing evolution of the firm and the renewable energy industry

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of (i) project finance experience with a developer / investment firm in the renewable energy space or (ii) corporate bank / lender in real assets, infrastructure, or power & utilities

  • Track record of managing external financing counterparties, third-party consultants and associated workstreams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Demonstrated competency in financial modeling, including modeling tax equity structures and concepts

  • Demonstrated competency in negotiating tax equity and debt documentation

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational and people skills

  • Firm understanding of corporate finance, valuation, and financial accounting

  • Intellectual curiosity and the confidence to interact with the firm’s senior leadership and key financing partners and counterparties

  • NYC-based or remote work location within the United States
