Job Summary

Onyx is seeking a Solar Asset Manager to join our growing and dynamic Asset Management team. The Solar Asset Manager will be responsible for REC reporting, investor reporting, and compliance management for a fleet of operating DG solar assets. This position will assist with the onboarding of projects into the department, including the responsibility for reviewing the project documents for operational obligations. The Solar Asset Manager will play an integral role with the creation of monthly and quarterly operational and financial reports for delivery to owner and tax equity partners. This position provides an excellent opportunity to play a critical role in operating and optimizing solar assets, while also working in an environment that necessitates interdepartmental teamwork and exposure to senior management.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Report monthly generation into PJM-GATS, WREGIS, and MRETS tracking platforms and confirm accuracy of third-party reporting in NEPOOL-GIS

  • Initiate REC transfers, track fulfilment of contractual obligations, and report SREC activity and positions to management

  • Register new projects with renewable portfolio standards programs and REC tracking platforms

  • Maintain and update a production reporting database

  • Assist with the creation of monthly/quarterly financial and operational reports for tax equity partners, portfolio owners, and internal reports

  • Track and verify minimum output guarantees

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, construction, accounting, and business development teams to onboard projects into asset management

  • Review project documents (PPA, Lease, Property Tax, Interconnection) for ongoing obligations and track project compliance therewith

  • Manage the relationship with host customers and leading project kickoff meetings to introduce the host customers to project operations and the asset management team

  • EIA 860 and EIA 923 annual project registration and reporting

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, environmental science, or accounting preferred.

  • 2-5 years of work experience. Solar or wind industry experience, with a concentration on Asset Management, Finance, or Development, strongly preferred.

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated experience in managing and reporting of large datasets, as well as a strong ability to analyze and synthesize the data.

  • Experience with solar performance monitoring programs, PFs Drive and AE Power Track is preferred.

  • Experience with REC contracts and tracking platforms is highly desirable.

  • Working knowledge of PV system design, operation, and key commercial terms.

  • Working knowledge of typical project finance and commercial contracts, including PPAs

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including an advanced knowledge of Excel and database software/applications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an honest open communication style.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in a dynamic work environment.
