Senior Project Manager

Onyx Renewable Partners L. P’s. West Coast Senior Project Manager (“Senior Project Manager”) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of company projects currently in the construction phase of the development process. This role will be responsible for managing external consultants, contractors, and subcontractors germane to the construction process. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring construction progresses on schedule and oversee project turnover to the joint venture development company. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for general reporting of construction progress to Onyx management which in turn provides progress reports to project equity investors and lenders. This position will also be working in unison with Jr Project Manager(s) and will be responsible for transitioning the project into the asset management phase. Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise sub-contracting crews in addition to Onyx Jr PM and Construction Managers

  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet necessary deadlines

  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites

  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations with engineering staff

  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods

  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project

  • Manage budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports

  • Develop and implement quality control programs

  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather or emergencies at construction site

  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems

  • Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems

  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out

  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans

  • Oversee construction phases

Reporting

  • Responsible for maintaining project budget via the SVP of EPC

  • Prepare updated project budgets and schedule and report detailed analytics to explain variances against budget and schedule

  • Weekly progress reports

  • Hosting weekly progress meetings with the help of EPC support staff for off takers and contractors

Required Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of managing the design and/or construction of solar photovoltaic systems; or

  • 10 to 20 years of managing infrastructure and/or building construction projects that include electrical and mechanical systems

  • Detailed contractor coordination and field experience a must
