Job Description

Onyx is seeking a highly motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This role will report to the Controller and is responsible for all day-to-day accounts payable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review invoices and assign proper general ledger account and budget coding

  • Process weekly payment runs from multiple bank accounts for different subsidiaries

  • Monitor accounts payable aging to ensure payments are processed in a timely manner

  • Audit employee expense reports for compliance against Company T&E policy

  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with vendors, providing timely response to all inquiries

  • Run accounts payables project reports for vendor and budgetary review

  • Reply to internal requests on payments status updates

  • Maintain up-to-date vendor information and payment terms within AP module

  • Assist with month-end AP close and preparation of reports under tight deadlines

  • Prepare Form 1099s on an annual basis

  • Interface with external auditors as part of annual audits

  • Make recommendations to enhance efficiency and automate processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles (e.g. capital expenditures vs non-capital expenditures) and controls and compliance requirements

  • Experience with automated purchasing and A/P processes and ERP systems

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be detail and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast paced, and constantly evolving environment as well as extended hours, as required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, sum-ifs, pivot tables, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Intacct accounting system

  • Experience with Concur Expense and Invoice

  • Experience in the renewable energy, power & utilities, real estate, or construction industry
